Due to our non-profit status, the players and coaches of the Dixie Blues are not paid a salary or compensated for their participation. Everyone contributes on a volunteer basis and solely relies on donations and sponsorships to operate throughout the year. While rewarding our players and coaches for their efforts is the long-term goal of our franchise, each of them truly do it for the love of the game.
As a non-profit organization, the Blues success would not have been made possible, were it not for their sponsors. We have applied for our 501(c)(3) and expect to have this status available in the very near future. Meanwhile, we ARE recognized as a not-for-profit organization in the state of Florida, and ALL contributions are fully tax deductible.
Currently, our largest expense is the cost of travel. With an average of 35 players and six coaches, travel and lodging can take its toll on the budget, at times costing upwards of $5,000—$8,000 for per game. Each player is responsible for purchasing her own equipment which includes helmet, pads, cleats, and jerseys. Your support significantly helps curb these costs. The average cost to rent a facility is approx $1,200 per game, with gameday expenses totaling an average of $2,500! As you can see, your support is critically needed.
